Biography

Narek Kosmos was born on March 8, 2002 in Gyumri.

Narek is an Armenian composer, singer-songwriter, poet, and art critic. He studies at the Gyumri branch of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, in the Faculty of Art History. He graduated from the violin department of the Sheram Music School in Gyumri. Narek performs both as a solo artist and with the band “Jranerk”, which he founded in 2018.

In 2022, he created the musical score for a theatrical adaptation of Stephen King's Misery. The premiere took place on September 17–18, 2022, at the Vardan Achemyan State Drama Theater in Gyumri, directed by Gor Margaryan.

Formation of “Jranerk” Band

In 2018, at the age of 16, Narek founded the band “Jranerk”. He performs as the lead singer-songwriter. The band has recorded several songs and released 5 music videos. More are planned for release in 2022. One of their most popular songs is “Du imn es” (You Are Mine), featured in the TV series “Hatuk Dasaran” (Special Class).

In this context, we turn to the recently published poetry collection "Past 48" by young poet, composer, and singer-songwriter Narek Kosmos. Every piece in this collection is a step toward “reading” the essence of humanity.

I want so much to be the only coincidence in your outlined life... the only train whose rails will change with your features, that will travel far carrying your smile’s stops by heart... No tangled moments. Narek’s poetry flows simply and deeply, touching the everyday. The author’s poetic world is vividly exposed, layer by layer, with personality and depth.

A poetic awakening — this is how the first few poems of the collection can be described. In them, the author is searching — at times for himself, at times for the world and the people around him. He follows the essence of human selfhood and relationships, slightly touching the subconscious.

In short, I need big cities to express thoughts as small as our country’s budget... *** I wasn’t your wardrobe, and you didn’t change inside me... and my character shivered from your absence... every night, I imagined my home, you in my bed, my imagined self in your mind... but reality and poetry are from different classrooms.
